We highly recommend cable modem through Time Warner.  You can get their Road Runner service, but here's a tip.  For a few bucks less, choose Earthlink Cable.  It's the same service, but you'll have an @earthlink.com email address instead of @houston.rr.com.

If you are using Time Warner for your cable television service, then you get a slight discount on Road Runner.  So in that case, take your pick.  They identical in speed, but Earthlink probably offers better support.

SBC/Yahoo DSL is a good third choice if cable is not available in your area.  But it is typically only about 1/3 as fast as cable, and we don't like their long contract requirements.
